The Anchor Story

In the mid-1980's, I entered a picture of a giant beaver dam photographed at the Maroon Bells (Aspen, CO) in a school cultural arts program and won my first photo contest. Thirty years later, my family returned to the area and the dam was still there, looking almost identical to the image I had captured as a child. Like the dam, my love of photography and telling stories of life, love, hope and good has spanned nearly three decades.

I started capturing live action sports in 2017 just for fun, and with a big, encouraging nudge from my incredible Cross Country mom tribe, Anchor Photography SRQ was born in January 2021. As a mom of two student athletes, I felt an automatic and natural connection to live action sports, high school seniors and family photography. My son was a three year high school varsity letter winner in Cross Country, a four year varsity letter winner in Track & Field, a member of both the 2021 Cross County State Finals team and the 2022 4x800 relay State Finals team and is now a DII collegiate runner. My daughter has been a competitive dancer since age 5, is a multi-year varsity runner and is a varsity cheerleader.

Now, I’m lucky enough to do what I love — telling stories through photos. I believe in the power of a well-timed shot that shows the grit, the joy and the quiet moments in motion. I love getting to know the athletes, high school seniors and families, and I see every frame as a chance to give everyone memories that will last forever.
